Hon. Ababu - Terrah Namwamba, EGH, CAS, Foreign Affairs and International Trade

CAS Foreign Affairs and International Trade Hon Ababu-Namwamba, EGH is in India to represent Kenya at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Conference that opens tomorrow at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

Hon Ababu is leading a top Kenyan delegation that includes Kenya's Geneva-based Ambassador/PR to UN, WTO and Other International Organisations in Switzerland, Amb. Dr. Stephen Ndūn'gū Karau who chaired the Agriculture talks at the Buenos Aires WTO round.

Hon Ababu was received on arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by Kenya's High Commissioner to India H.E. Florence Weche and high ranking officers of the Indian government. Earlier this evening Hon Ababu and his delegation were hosted to dinner by Ambassador Weche and staff of the Kenya High Commission. The dinner was also attended by a number of African Ambassadors in New Delhi.

Speaking at the dinner, CAS Ababu applauded the great service rendered to Kenya by our foreign service officers and urged them to raise the profile of Kenya even higher wherever they serve. He assured them of full support by the ministry back in Nairobi. Highlighting President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big4 Vision and Afro-centric foreign policy, the CAS urged our diplomatic officers to aggressively market Kenya in India and secure strategic partnerships to help achieve the big 4 agenda of universal healthcare, affordable housing, food security and exoanded manufacturing anchored on value addition. He also explained the Blue Economy concept and the International Blue Economy Conference to be hosted by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta in November this year. Hon Ababu described India as a special jewel that must be embraced closely.

The CAS thanked the African diplomatic corp in India and reiterated the Pan-Africanist spirit of Kenya's foreign policy which is at the heart of President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda for the continent.

Tomorrow Hon Ababu is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with India's Ministries of Commerce and Foreign Affairs ahead of the official opening of the WTO Conference.
